A mobile shower helped me end my homelessness
Shower the People is a community-based mobile shower program that offers free, hot showers to homeless people five days a week in San Luis Obispo County.
A mobile shower allows us flexibility to be where our homeless neighbors gather to eat or to receive other services. Our shower trailer has three private bathrooms, each equipped with a sink, toilet, and shower, and with dispensers of biodegradable soap and shampoo. We supply clean towels, washcloths, toiletries, socks, T-shirts, and underwear.
Shower the People depends on donations from individual community members, as well as donations and grants from local organizations. As an entirely volunteer-run program, those investments go directly to sustaining the important and meaningful work of providing showers — and dignity — for homeless community members.
What Can I Do?
Our staff are all unpaid volunteers, and we are a nongovernmental organization that relies on the generosity of our community. You can make a big difference by donating, volunteering, and by sharing our mission.
